Through the Lens: Our Favorite Stretch at Willbrook
Some stretches of a golf course just feel special — and for us, holes 5 through 7 at Willbrook are that place. We love playing them as much as we love photographing them. Early morning light dances across the water, Spanish moss drapes over the fairways, and each hole reveals a different side of Willbrook’s charm. These three holes are a true reflection of the course’s beauty and character. (All yardages from the white tees, rankings from the scorecard, USGA)
Hole 5 – 369 yards, Par 4 (4th most difficult)
Water is the defining feature on this memorable par 4, a hole that offers as many paths to birdie as it does to double bogey. The tee shot demands both nerve and precision to stay dry, but those who find the fairway will be rewarded with a manageable approach and a fair shot at par.
Hole 6 – 127 yards, Par 3 (Easiest hole)
Home to Willbrook’s iconic island green, this short par 3 is the course’s most photographed hole — and for good reason. With a wedge in hand and water surrounding the target, confidence is key. Go pin hunting, and enjoy one of the most satisfying shots on the course.
Hole 7 – 324 yards, Par 4 (10th most difficult)
The 7th invites aggression off the tee, and long hitters will oblige. A well-struck drive leaves only a short approach, but the green is well-guarded — a deep bunker on the left and a sentinel tree on the right wait to punish a misstep. Find the fairway, and this is a perfect scoring opportunity to close out the stretch.
